A well-made cocktail on a terrace is for summer what a cardigan is for the winter: fundamental. High Bar Athens is the new addition to the ubiquitous views of the city with a three-storey multi-space consisting of steampunk touches, a more than capable bar and 2 airbnb’s (!) for the lovers of the city’s center!
The owners, lovers of Greece and creators of one of the hottest pubs in Berlin, The Castle, acknowledging that Athens is a metropolis of fine drinking and cocktails, decided to redeem their many years of experience by proposing something refreshingly fresh and a little different from the trivial: High Bar without attitude and with an inclusive mood, is a bar where everyone is welcome, to experience the neighboorbood of Gazi as it deserves, with great company.
Upon entering, you will discover an environment that mixes vintage with the contemporary, decorated with comfortable sofas, retro armchairs, atmospheric lighting and a large bar. In the background is the staircase, which leads to the floors. Every surface on your ascent (but also on the outside of the building) hosts murals by visual artist Leonidas Giannakopoulos, from the space age car on the façade, with a cat-pilot, to the 1st floor piano helicopter and the impressive dolphin-trumpet.
Its roof is an undisputed eye-opener. Lush with greenery, wooden seating areas and a large summer bar, it is the ideal place to enjoy the sunset while sipping your drink, but also later, when the evening is well on its way, for overnight gatherings with your friends under the starry Attic sky.
Bar manager Giannis Pouris has been inspired into making a list of 10 unbeatable signatures with playful names and even more playful combinations: A great example is Spooning is Always the Answer, with white and black rum, orgeat, lime, passion fruit, grapefruit cordial and spiced syrup which is accompanied by an edible Muai Thai gel – cool, multidimensional and easy to drink.
Not for the First Date, is equally impressive with a tantalising salt caramel foam and gin base, it will uniquely sweeten your visit with a wonderful aftertaste of apricot jam. All recipes are made in house, with care and attention, while the classics experience their ideal versions.
The High Bar Athens is open daily from 18.00 for early drinks, mocktails or coffee.
