Kai Kremmidi (… And Onion): Authentic delicacies from Anatolia, in Hydra

    Kebab is not a simple mince of meat but the taste of memory, an old history with aromas and images from the bazaars of the East, a taste passport that is now offered by very few – measured on the fingers – grills in its original, traditional form. … And Kremmidi, this bridge with the political cuisine, offers it 100 meters from the port, nestled in the picturesque alleys of Hydra, in a manicured stone alley that wins you over, at first sight.

    One can hardly resist a table full of goodies in this beautiful tavern: The tasting starts with fresh salads and wonderful appetizers, such as lahmatzoun, feta saganaki (manemen), aubergines from Asia Minor (with tomato sauce) stuffed spaghetti with minced meat, itsli kiofte, mushrooms but Turkish skewers on the grill.

    The sequel moves to more… meat-eating rhythms… Apart from the traditional souvlaki, the juicy kebab and the handmade gyros, the wrapped but also the filling portions, here we find more sophisticated dishes. From the menu we unreservedly recommend iskender kebab, adana kebab, falafel, and chicken fillets ala Turkish (marinated with mustard, yogurt, sweet red pepper and sweet lemon). 

    A superb grill house, with great prices and the possibility to take away to enjoy its goodies in your hotel room or on your airbnb. Do not forget its velvety kiunefe for the end, you’ll love it’s warm sweetness.
